After decades of boots, sun and water the original rubber shrinks, cracks, tears at the edges and comes loose. Water then sits under the loose rubber against the steel step, which is one of the most common rust spots on a Vanagon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA new step rubber gives a safe, grippy foothold, keeps water off the step metal and makes the cab entry look right again.
