Porsche Carburetion & Induction
Carburetion and induction for air-cooled Porsche — from Weber and Solex-conversion hardware to full PMO Induction triple-throat carburetor packages for the 911. Dialed-in fuel delivery for street and vintage race builds, backed by the same air-cooled expertise behind everything we make in-house.
Choosing a PMO set: displacement decides, not model year
PMO triple-throat carburetors are sized to the engine in front of them. In this catalog that works out as 40mm for 2.0-2.4L and again for 2.4-2.7L, 46mm for 2.8-3.0L and for the 3.2-3.4L Carrera, and 50mm from 3.5L up, including stroker, 964 and 993 combinations. Two different 40mm listings exist because the same throttle size gets jetted differently for a street 2.0 and a 2.7 - read the displacement in the title, not the years.
Before you order
- Know the actual displacement. These engines get rebuilt, stroked and swapped. What is stamped on the case is worth more than what is on the title.
- Budget for jetting. We stock main jets in fine increments for HPMX, IDF, IDA and DCOE carburetors and for 32/36, 38 and 34 ICT. A set that suits the engine still has to be tuned to your cam, exhaust and altitude.
- Check the ancillaries. Crank pulley sizing changes across the range - 131mm is catalogued for 911 74-77, S, Carrera and Carrera 3.0, and 134mm for 78-83. Rebuild kits cover the 40, 46 and 50mm sets.
Not only 911s
Type 4 induction lives here too. The Weber 44 IDF kit in this collection is listed for VW Bus 1972-1979, Porsche 914 1972-1975 and VW Type 4 1972-1974 - same hardware, because it is the same engine family. Manifolds and hex-bar linkage for 1700-2000cc Type 4 and 914 are catalogued together for the same reason.
Call before you buy a set
A carburetor package is one of the few purchases where the wrong answer is expensive and the right answer depends on the whole combination - cam, exhaust, compression, where you drive it. We would rather talk you out of the wrong set than process the return. Read the full PMO carburetor guide, then call the parts line on (657) 438-7002, Monday to Friday 8am-5pm Pacific.
