Body: shop it as a 911
Our catalog puts the 912 and the 911 on the same sheet metal. The Dansk front hood is cataloged for the 911 1965–1973 and the 912 1965–1969, the rear center valance the same way, and the floor pan halves and front floor pan repair sections carry both. Our 912 decoder records the 1969 change to a longer wheelbase, with the rear wheels moved 2.5 inches further back and flared bodywork to fit wider wheels, so a 1969 car is not dimensionally a 1965 one.
Drivetrain: shop it as a 356, then as a 914
The four-cylinder is where the 912 parts company with the 911. Our Solex-to-Weber carburetor adapter plates are cataloged for the 356 Super 90 and SC 1959–1965 and the 912 1965–1969, and our Super Kooler cooling kits list the 356 and 912 together with air-cooled VW. The 1976 912E is a different animal again: our Super Vee Type 4 cylinder heads carry 912E fitment alongside the Porsche 914 and the VW Bus.

Does a 912 use the same body panels as a 911?

Is a 1976 912E the same as an earlier 912?
