Full Throttle FT560 AGM Battery | 12V, 560 CCA, BCI Group 26R

The Full Throttle FT560 is a high-performance AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery — 12 volts, 560 cold cranking amps, BCI Group 26R case size. Engineered by Fullriver, it's a dual-purpose battery built for vintage restorations, performance street builds, off-road vehicles, and car audio, wherever a maintenance-free, leak-proof, vibration-resistant battery is needed.

Why Choose AGM?

AGM batteries use fiberglass mats saturated with electrolyte instead of free-flowing acid. The result: no spillage risk, no acid corrosion of nearby chassis components, vibration resistance well beyond conventional flooded batteries, the ability to mount in any orientation (including on its side), and significantly longer service life under deep-cycle conditions. On a classic VW the battery lives under the rear seat or in the front trunk — acid leaks from a failing conventional battery destroy floor pans and wiring, and AGM construction eliminates that risk entirely.

Vehicle Fitment

  • Universal (by case size): Any 12V application using a BCI Group 26R battery — fit by case size and terminal orientation, not by vehicle.
  • Classic VW: Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3 (12V applications, 1967+)
  • Also suits: Off-road and racing (vibration-resistant, leak-proof), car audio (deep-cycle capability), hot rods, customs, and resto-mods

Verify Group 26R fits your battery tray. BCI Group 26R is a common size, but VW Beetle battery trays vary by year — some accept Group 26R directly, others were sized for smaller Group U1 or similar. Measure your tray before ordering. The Group 26R is approximately 8.3" L × 6.8" W × 7.8" H.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Maintenance-Free: Fully sealed — no topping up, no spills.
  • Leak-Proof & Vibration-Resistant: AGM construction survives high-vibration and off-road use.
  • Any-Orientation Mounting: Can be mounted in any position, including on its side.
  • Dual-Purpose: Cranks like a starting battery and tolerates deeper discharges like a deep-cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will this fit under the rear seat of my Beetle? Depends on the year and any battery tray modifications. Many late-model Beetles (post-1970) accept Group 26R. Earlier Beetles may need tray modification. Measure the existing tray dimensions before ordering.
  • Is 560 CCA enough to crank my air-cooled engine? For a stock or mildly-modified Type 1 engine, yes — easily. 560 CCA is plenty for any air-cooled VW including high-compression performance engines. For larger Type 4 engines or modified high-compression race builds, verify your engine's specific cold-start current draw.
  • Can I charge this with a regular charger? You can with caution, but a proper AGM-compatible charger or a "smart" multi-stage charger is strongly recommended. AGM batteries don't tolerate overcharging well, and old-style high-output chargers can damage them.
  • What's the warranty? Verify warranty terms with Fullriver — check the included paperwork for specifics. AGM batteries typically have 1–3 year manufacturer warranties depending on the model and application.
  • Is this 6V compatible? No. This is a 12V battery. For 6V applications (1966 and earlier VWs running original 6V electrical), look for a 6V-specific battery.
  • Why "dual-purpose"? The FT560 is designed to both crank an engine (high-amperage burst) and tolerate deeper discharges than a pure starting battery. Pure starting batteries fail quickly if deeply discharged; pure deep-cycle batteries don't crank cold engines well. Dual-purpose covers both.
