Kennedy Engineered Products (KEP) 200mm 6-Puck Clutch Disc — Sprung Hub, Streetable
Kennedy Engineered Products (KEP) 200 mm 6-puck clutch disc — the more streetable of Kennedy's two 200 mm puck-style discs. The 6-puck pattern engages more progressively than a 4-puck (more friction surface, smoother on/off feel) while still providing a significant grip upgrade over a stock full-faced disc.
Vehicle Fitment
- VW Type 1 / Type 2 / Type 3: All years — Beetle, Bus, Karmann Ghia, Thing, and Type 3 running a 200 mm flywheel
- Best for: Performance street, light off-road, autocross, and weekend drag duty
Why Choose Kennedy Engineered Products?
Kennedy has been building performance clutches for air-cooled VWs since the 1970s and remains the reference brand for serious engine builders. Made in the USA. If the engine in front of your transaxle is making real power, KEP is what holds it together.
Key Features & Benefits
- Progressive engagement: The 6-puck pattern offers more contact area than a 4-puck, for smoother, more livable on/off feel.
- Sprung hub: Absorbs driveline shock during engagement to protect your transaxle on launches.
- Real grip upgrade: Significantly more holding power than a stock full-faced disc, while staying street-friendly.
- Pairs with a KEP pressure plate: Match to a Stage 1 (1700 lb) or higher plate sized to your engine output.

Frequently Asked Questions
- 6-puck or 4-puck — which should I choose? The KEP 6-puck (this disc) is the better balance of street manners and performance; you give up a bit of peak hookup versus the 4-puck, but engagement is far more livable. If you only race and want maximum bite, the KEP 4-puck (16-9898-0) is the more aggressive choice.
- What pressure plate should I run with it? Pair it with a KEP pressure plate — Stage 1 (1700 lb) or higher — sized to your engine's output.
- Will it hold up to street driving? Yes. It's the right choice for built engines that still see street miles — livable engagement that won't beat up your transaxle on launches.
