A Smiths Industries fuel level gauge in classic British styling, made in the UK. This is the 6-volt version for early VW Type 1 cars running the original pre-1967 6-volt electrical system.
It works with VW's original fuel-tank sending unit and replaces a non-functional OEM fuel gauge in restorations.
Vehicle Fitment
- VW Beetle (Type 1): 1949–1967, early 6-volt cars
- VW Karmann Ghia: 1955–1967, early 6-volt cars
Why Choose Smiths?
Smiths Industries has built automotive instrumentation in Britain for nearly a century — originally as OE supplier to Jaguar, Triumph, MG, and the rest of the classic British marques. Today the Smiths instrument range remains the gold standard for restorers who want their dashboards to look the way they did when the car left the factory. Smiths gauges have a recognizable look: a clean dial face, the distinctive Smiths typeface, and the characteristic chrome or black 'V' bezel.
