Ask an expert

The Weber 32/36 DFEV is the proven cure for a tired, hard-starting stock carburetor. This complete progressive two-barrel kit (43-0622-0) bolts onto your dual-port Type 1 and delivers crisp throttle response, easier cold starts, and noticeably better fuel economy than a worn-out PICT.

Features

  • Genuine Weber 32/36 DFEV progressive 2-barrel carburetor
  • Small primary for economy, large secondary for power on demand
  • Complete kit: carburetor, air cleaner, adapter and linkage
  • Eliminates flat spots and hard cold starts of a worn stock carb
  • Manual choke for predictable cold-start behavior

Fitment

Confirmed fitment: 1966–1974 VW Beetle and Karmann Ghia with 1600cc dual-port engines. Requires correct manifold end castings (dual-port 00-3236-0 or single-port 00-3237-0) — confirm yours before ordering.

Not confirmed: Type 2 Bus and Type 3 applications use a different kit; do not assume this fits without verifying the manifold.

Tuning & Setup Notes

A progressive or dual carburetor swap changes the fuel curve of your engine, so plan on a proper jetting check and idle/mixture sync once the kit is installed — every engine's compression, cam, and exhaust combination is a little different. We recommend a mechanical fuel pump or a regulated low-pressure electric pump sized for carburetor use, fresh fuel line rated for ethanol-blended gas, and a check of your linkage geometry before first start-up.
