The Washburn’s Metal Signature Series

Washburn's Originals are the parts we made because nobody else would. Every one started as a problem on our own shop floor in Orange, California — a clutch cable that took three hours to change, a shifter that never felt tight no matter what bushing went in, an engine bay you couldn't reach the plugs in with dual carbs. We designed the fix, ran it on our own builds for a season, and only then put it up for sale.

What's in the line

  • Washburn Windows — weld-in engine bay access panels for the VW Beetle, in standard 7.5" x 6.5" for single-carb cars and 11" x 7.75" Big Windows for dual-carb and big-engine builds. Change plugs and sync carbs from the wheel well instead of fighting a cramped bay. Carbon fiber covers available.
  • Snap-Lock Delrin Shift Bushings — CNC-machined from virgin Delrin® homopolymer and cut on-size, so the slop goes away and stays away. No retainer clips, no safety wire. Type 1 / 2 / 3, Ghia, Thing, plus a Bus-specific version for 1966–1973.
  • Tunnel Access & Cover Kits — laser-cut steel weld-in frames with removable flush covers that turn clutch cable replacement from an all-day job into a fifteen-minute one. Forward and center locations.
  • Restoration Carts, Dollies & Fixtures — the rolling body carts, frame horn dollies, and Bus transport kits we use every day to move bodies and pans around the shop without a forklift or a second set of hands.
  • Chassis & Suspension Originals — weld-in rear torsion adjusters, billet parking brake brackets, IRS conversion pockets, and the rest of the fabrication hardware we reach for on a build.

Why buy from the shop that makes it

These aren't catalog parts with our sticker on them. They're designed, laser-cut, machined, and finished in-house in Orange, CA, by people who restore air-cooled Volkswagens and Porsches for a living. If a part doesn't work the way we said it would, tell us — we'd rather fix the design than argue about it.
