EMPI Chrome Wheel Stud & Nut Kit — M12x1.5, 5 Pair, for 5x205 Drums

Short answer: EMPI's chrome stud-and-nut kits convert one 5x205 wheel from lug bolts to studs and nuts: five M12x1.5 studs that thread into the drum plus five chrome nuts. Choose 00-9533-0 with 60° acorn nuts for steel wheels or 00-9510-0 with mag-wheel nuts and flat washers for mag wheels. For 1949–1967 Beetles, 1956–1966 Ghias and 1961–1965 Type 3s; four kits do a car.

Part numbers: EMPI 00-9533-0 / 0095330 (60°, steel wheels) · 00-9510-0 / 0095100 (mag, with washers)

Why It Matters

Studs make wheel changes easier because the wheel hangs on the studs while you start the nuts, and they are the look many vintage and buggy builds want. The nut must match the wheel: 60° acorn for cone-seat steel wheels, mag-wheel nuts with washers for flat-seat mag wheels.

Install Notes

  • Thread studs into the drum fully by hand, then snug them; use thread locker if EMPI's instructions call for it.
  • Torque nuts to your wheel manufacturer's spec in a star pattern; re-check after 50 miles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I convert a wide-five VW to studs? Use one EMPI kit per wheel: 00-9533-0 for 60° steel wheels or 00-9510-0 for mag wheels. Each has five M12x1.5 studs and nuts.
  • How many kits do I need? Four, one per wheel.
  • What is the difference between the two kits? 00-9533-0 has 60° acorn nuts for steel wheels; 00-9510-0 has mag-wheel nuts with flat washers for mag wheels.
  • Do these fit a 1968 Beetle? No. 4-lug cars use M14 threads; see the M14 to 1/2-20 kits.
  • Are you an authorized EMPI dealer? Yes. Washburn's Metal is an authorized EMPI dealer, so this is genuine EMPI hardware shipped from our Orange, California shop.
