Short answer: This kit is 20 EMPI Porsche-style lug nuts, M14x1.5 thread with a ball seat, for 5x130 wheels that use 14mm ball-seat hardware, such as EMPI's 911 Alloy and Torque Star II. Why It Matters
Five-lug Porsche-pattern wheels like EMPI's 911 Alloy and Torque Star II use a 14mm ball seat. A 60° cone nut will not seat in them correctly. When a VW is converted to 5x130 with adapters, the adapter carries M14x1.5 studs, and these are the nuts that go on them. One kit covers a full car.
Install Notes
- Confirm your wheel's seat type before installing: ball seat only.
- Start all nuts by hand, then tighten in a star pattern.
- Torque to the wheel or vehicle manufacturer's spec and re-check after 50 miles.
- Alloy nuts are lighter; check them at every service.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What lug nuts do 5x130 Fuchs-style wheels need? Most, including EMPI's 911 Alloy and Torque Star II, use M14x1.5 ball-seat nuts like these. Check your wheel's seat before ordering.
- Do I need these for a 4-lug to 5x130 conversion? Yes. EMPI's 00-9500-0 adapters have M14x1.5 studs on the wheel side; these 20 nuts mount four wheels on them.
- Will these fit a stock VW? No. Stock 4x130 and 5x205 VW hubs use lug bolts, not studs, so nuts do not apply.
- Which finish should I pick? Zinc steel is the factory-style budget choice. The chrome, black and raw alloy versions are lightweight aluminum.
- Are you an authorized EMPI dealer? Yes. Washburn's Metal is an authorized EMPI dealer, so this is genuine EMPI hardware shipped from our Orange, California shop.
