EMPI Stainless Steel Allen Bolts for Wheel Center Caps — Package of 5 (00-9698-0)
Five stainless Allen-head screws for retaining wheel center caps on EMPI custom wheels. The small fasteners nobody keeps spares of, which is why the cap on one corner is always held on by whatever was in the coffee can.
Center cap screws live in the worst possible place for a fastener: right in the wheel face, hit by every bit of road spray and brake dust the car throws, and rarely touched between tire changes. Plated steel screws rust, seize, and then round out their Allen recess when someone finally tries to remove them. Stainless is the correct answer here — it will still look right in five years and it will still come out.
Vehicle Fitment
- EMPI custom wheels using Allen-head center cap retaining screws — including the Corsa 5-Rib and GT-5 style caps
- Air-cooled VW: Beetle, Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Bus, Type 3, Thing on EMPI wheels
- Dune buggy, Baja & sandrail builds on EMPI wheels
Check your cap first. Not every wheel uses screw-retained caps — many push on. This is for the Allen-screw style.
Key Features & Benefits
- Stainless steel: Will not rust streak down the wheel face.
- Allen head: Clean appearance, and a hex key reaches it in a recessed cap.
- Package of 5: Enough for one cap plus a spare on most designs.
- Inexpensive fix for a detail that makes a wheel set look unfinished.
- Genuine EMPI: This is a genuine EMPI product.

Installation Notes
- Snug, not tight. These thread into cast aluminum or a thin retainer. Overtightening strips the hole, and then you have a real problem.
- Anti-seize is optional but sensible — stainless into aluminum can gall.
- Use the correct hex key and make sure it is fully seated before turning.
- Replace all of them at once so the cap sits evenly.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these fit my center caps? They fit EMPI wheels that use Allen-head cap screws. If your caps push on with no fastener, these are not what you need.
- How many screws does one cap take? It varies by wheel design — commonly three to five. Count what is on your wheel before ordering.
- Why stainless rather than chrome? Chrome plating over steel flakes and rusts in this location. Stainless does not streak.
- Can I use these on non-EMPI wheels? Possibly, if the thread and length match. Compare against an existing screw.
- Do they come with washers? No — bolts only.
