Weber 40mm IDF Dual Carburetor Kit — Type 1 Dual Port (43-7317-0)
Bolt-on dual-carb power for your Type 1. The Weber 40mm IDF Dual Carburetor Kit (43-7317-0) trades a tired single carb or a fussy stock setup for a matched pair of genuine Weber 40 IDF carburetors — the induction upgrade that wakes up a dual-port 1600 and keeps pulling on a built 1776 or 1835.
Everything you need bolts on: aluminum manifolds, center-pull linkage, and chrome air cleaners, so you go from box to running without chasing down adapters.
Vehicle Fitment
Confirmed fit for dual-port Type 1 engines in:
- VW Beetle: 1971–1979
- VW Super Beetle: 1971–1980
- VW Karmann Ghia: 1971–1974
- VW Thing (Type 181): 1973–1974
- VW Transporter Bus & Pickup (1.6L upright): 1971–1974
This kit is built for dual-port cylinder heads. It is not for single-port heads, the Type 3 pancake engine, or the Type 4 engine. Running a hotter cam or more displacement? The 40 IDF re-jets easily to match your combination.
Why Choose Weber?
Genuine Weber 40 IDF carburetors are the proven standard for air-cooled VW dual-carb induction — a dedicated carb feeding each pair of cylinders for crisp throttle response and even fueling, with legendary tunability: swap jets, not carbs, as your engine grows.

Frequently Asked Questions

- Is it genuine Weber or a copy? Genuine Weber 40 IDF carburetors, not an imitation.
- Do I need anything else to run it? The kit includes manifolds, linkage, air cleaners, fuel line, gaskets, and hardware. You supply fuel delivery — a low-pressure pump/regulator around 3–4 psi is recommended — and correct jetting for your build.
- What's the part number? 43-7317-0 (UPC 707924221558).
