Dress up the top of your Type 1 engine with a pulley that is engineered, not just pretty. The CMI Precision Machining 4.3" Billet Alt/Gen Pulley Kit is CNC machined in the USA from premium 6061-T651 billet aluminum, with a 7075-T651 aluminum pulley nut. CMI machines it with the correct backspacing so it will not rub the alternator, and uses its unique, worry-free Posi-Lock machined pulley-half design. The kit comes complete with the pulley nut and spacer plus four 0.015" steel shims for setting belt tension.

Which Pulley Do I Need?
- 4.3" vs 3.25": the 4.3" is CMI's standard-diameter alt/gen pulley. The 3.25" dimpled power pulley is intended to be paired with CMI's 5.25" crank power pulley to maintain adequate cooling fan speed. If you run a 6.75" crank pulley, the 4.3" is the natural match.
- 8 vs 12 spokes: styling only; same materials, hardware and price.
- Color: black, red or blue anodized, all the same price.
Installation Notes
- Belt tension on a VW Type 1 split pulley is set with shims between the pulley halves; fewer shims between the halves tightens the belt. Store spare shims under the nut.
- Check belt alignment with the crank pulley after installation.
- Follow the factory manual for the alternator/generator pulley nut procedure and belt deflection.
