The stub axle is the part that carries your rear wheel — and on a hard-driven IRS Volkswagen it is the part you least want to break. These Dave Folts Transmissions (DFT) stub axles are machined in the USA from aircraft-grade 4340 billet steel and heat-treated for high-load use, so they stand up to sticky tires, big power, off-road landings and the side loads that crack tired factory parts. Each package includes two stub axles and the axle nuts.
Choose the CV flange that matches your joints and the length that suits your wheels.
Choosing your version
- 930 CV flange — drilled for 3/8"-24 CV bolts, for builds running the larger Porsche 930-style CV joints.
- Type 2 (002) CV flange — drilled for M8 x 1.25 CV bolts, for Type 2-style CV joints.
- Long — stock stub-axle dimensions with an extended spline area.
- Short — made to clear the cap on Porsche-style wheels without interference.

Installation notes
- Fit new rear wheel bearings and seals when you change stub axles — it is the right time and the labour is already done.
- Use CV bolts of the correct thread (3/8"-24 for 930, M8 x 1.25 for Type 2) and torque them to the CV manufacturer's specification.
- Torque the axle nuts to the correct factory specification for your application and fit a new cotter pin where used.
- This is safety-critical work. If you are unsure, have a VW specialist install them.
