Put a real differential support on your swing-axle transaxle. The side covers on a VW swing-axle transaxle hold the differential bearings in place — and when you add power, sticky tires or off-road abuse, the factory covers can flex and let the differential move. This Dave Folts Transmissions (DFT) billet side cover is machined from 6061 aluminum and made to fit the case with the proper interference fit, which King Performance calls "the ultimate differential support." The latest version has lightening holes to trim weight without giving up stiffness.

Installation notes
- Side-cover work affects differential position and bearing preload. Set up the differential to the correct specification when the covers go on.
- Use new gaskets or seals and clean all mating faces.
- Because of the interference fit, the cover must be seated carefully and squarely — never hammered in crooked.
- We recommend installation by an experienced VW transaxle builder.
