The right belt for a King pulley setup, without guessing. Changing to an aftermarket pulley changes the belt length your engine needs. King Performance stocks two Gates belts matched to its own billet pulley families, and we carry the same two so you can order the pulleys and a spare belt together.

Why carry a spare?
On an air-cooled VW the fan belt also drives the cooling fan. If it breaks, the engine loses cooling as well as charging, so a spare belt in the car is cheap insurance, especially on a buggy or a long trip.

King does not publish the Gates part number or belt length for either size. If you need the exact number to match a spare, ask us and we will confirm it with King before shipping.
Installation Notes
Set belt tension with shims between the alternator/generator pulley halves: the belt should deflect about 1/2" under firm thumb pressure. Re-check tension after the first drive. Always confirm the charge light goes out after start-up.
FAQ
Is a belt already included with King pulley kits? Most King kits include a bonus belt; this is for a spare or replacement.
Large or Small? Large for 6.7" King pulleys, Small for King power pulleys.
