King Performance 8.5mm Spiral Core Spark Plug Wires for HEI-Style Cap & Coil
If you have moved your air-cooled VW to an HEI-style distributor and high-output coil, the wires are the part that still has to carry that extra spark to the plugs. King Performance built this 8.5mm spiral-core set for that job: low-resistance core, heavy plug ends, and a plain black jacket with no brand name printed on it, so the engine bay stays clean.
Fitment
Made for air-cooled VW four-cylinder engines running an HEI-style distributor cap and coil, such as the billet HEI-type distributors and high-output coils popular on Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Thing, Type 1-engined Bus and dune buggy builds. King lists the coil end as an HEI male-style end; a female coil-end version is listed as coming soon. If your coil has a different terminal, contact us before ordering. A stock Bosch-style cap and coil need a standard 7mm set instead.

Installation Notes
- Swap one wire at a time so the firing order stays correct.
- Push each boot fully onto the plug and cap tower until it seats; a half-seated boot can arc.
- Route wires away from the exhaust and heater boxes and keep them from rubbing on the tin.
