Make the pulley the first thing people notice when the decklid goes up. The King Performance Candy Color Pulley Kit pairs a 6.7" spoked billet crank pulley with a matching 4.3" spoked alternator pulley, both fully polished and then anodized in a deep candy color. It is a complete top-and-bottom kit for the air-cooled VW Type 1 engine, built around King's frenched steel hub so it runs true and bolts on like a factory part.

Fitment

  • Air-cooled VW Type 1 (upright-fan) engines: Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 1-powered Bus, Thing, Baja Bug, dune buggy and sand rail
  • Choose Stock Hub for a standard case, or Sand Seal Hub (4140 steel, 1.750" OD) for a case machined for a sand seal
  • Tapped for the Dub Shop Trigger Wheel, so it is ready for crank-trigger ignition or EFI
  • Off-highway use only

Colors

Green, Gold, Polished, Pink, Earth, Purple, Orange and Candy Red, each offered with either hub. Every pulley is polished first so the anodized color has depth.

Installation Notes

Shim the alternator pulley with the supplied .005" shims until the belt runs straight. The bonus belt is King's size recommendation; engines vary, so confirm the fit before you drive. King recommends running a charge (dummy) light so you know right away if a belt comes off, because the belt also drives the cooling fan. Anodized color can shift over time with heat and sunlight; this is normal and not a defect.

FAQ

Is it a complete kit? Yes. Crank pulley, alternator pulley, hardware and a belt are included.

Stock or sand-seal hub? Match your engine case. If you are not sure, ask us before ordering.

Will it work with a generator? The top pulley fits the standard Type 1 generator/alternator shaft; tell us your setup and we will confirm.

Can I add crank-trigger ignition later? Yes. The crank pulley is tapped for the Dub Shop Trigger Wheel.
