King Performance forged titanium lug nuts are the lightest, cleanest way to finish off a set of wheels on a hot-rodded air-cooled VW, dune buggy, sand rail or any build running M14 x 1.5 wheel studs. Each nut is hot-forged from aerospace-grade Ti6Al-4V (Grade 5) titanium, CNC-machined, and finished with rolled threads and a knurled grip — about half the weight of a steel lug nut, and it will never rust. Available in 45 mm, 33 mm and 20 mm lengths to suit your studs and wheels.
Sold as a set of 20 — five per wheel for a four-wheel wide-five setup. Choose your length — 45 mm open-end (for long studs), 45 mm closed-end (a capped, finished look), 33 mm closed-end or the short 20 mm open-end — in raw titanium or black PVD.
Which length do I need?
- 45 mm — long or race studs, thick alloy wheels, spacers. Open-end lets the stud pass through; closed-end caps it.
- 33 mm closed-end — a mid-length capped nut for standard-length studs. Make sure your studs are short enough not to bottom out inside it.
- 20 mm open-end — a short, low-profile nut for tight clearance; longer studs can pass through it.
Whatever length you choose, make sure the nut gets full thread engagement — as a rule of thumb at least as many millimetres of thread as the stud diameter (14 mm). If you are unsure, tell us your stud length and wheel and we will recommend one.
Why titanium lug nuts?
- Light: 31.7 g per 45 mm open-end nut — roughly 45–50% lighter than a comparable steel nut, taking weight off the rotating, unsprung mass at every corner.
- Strong: Ti6Al-4V rated at 138,000 psi (951 MPa) ultimate tensile strength and 128,000 psi (883 MPa) yield.
- Corrosion-proof: titanium does not rust — ideal for buggies and sand cars that see water, salt and sand.
- Rolled threads, not cut: better fatigue resistance and less galling than cut threads.
- Anti-slip knurled head for easy hand-starting.
- Black PVD option: a hard physical-vapor-deposition coating for a stealth look that holds up better than paint or anodizing.
Fitment
Fits any wheel stud with M14 x 1.5 metric thread that accepts a 19 mm hex lug nut, including:
- Air-cooled VW Beetle, Bus, Ghia and Type 3 running wide-five or 5-lug stud conversions (stock VW uses lug bolts, not nuts)
- Dune buggies, Meyers Manx-style buggies, Baja Bugs and sand rails on M14 x 1.5 studs
- Street, performance and modified vehicles with M14 x 1.5 studs
Before you order, confirm two things: (1) your studs are M14 x 1.5 — not 1/2"-20 or M12 x 1.5; and (2) the lug seat on your wheels matches these nuts. A lug nut with the wrong seat will not clamp the wheel correctly. Not sure? Send us your wheel brand and model and we will confirm fit before we ship.

Installation
Use a properly fitting 19 mm socket for installation and removal. Tighten lug nuts evenly to the correct torque specification. Do not over-tighten or use excessive force — this can damage the threads or the lug nut. Always confirm the correct wheel-stud thread size and torque specification for your vehicle and wheel before installing.
⚠ WARNING — TITANIUM LUG NUTS: Failure to follow these instructions can leave wheels loose, cause component failure, or lead to loss of vehicle control, resulting in serious injury or death.
- Hand tools only — never use an impact wrench to tighten or loosen. Impact tools can gall, strip or crack titanium threads. Start every nut by hand and snug with a 19 mm socket.
- Anti-seize is required. Apply a thin layer of high-quality copper- or nickel-based anti-seize to the threads to prevent galling and seizing.
- Torque with a calibrated torque wrench to your vehicle or wheel manufacturer's specification, in a star pattern.
- Re-torque after the first 50–100 miles and after every track or off-road event.
Frequently asked questions
How many lug nuts come in a set?
20 — five per wheel for four wide-five wheels.
Will these fit my stock VW Beetle?
Only if it has been converted to wheel studs. Stock air-cooled VWs use M14 x 1.5 lug bolts threaded into the drum or hub. These nuts are for M14 x 1.5 studs.
What lengths are available?
45 mm open-end, 45 mm closed-end, 33 mm closed-end and 20 mm open-end — all M14 x 1.5 with a 19 mm hex.
Open-end or closed-end?
Open-end lets long studs pass through — the usual choice for race and extended studs. Closed-end caps the stud for a clean, finished look but needs enough depth for your stud length.
What socket do I need?
19 mm.
Can I use an impact gun?
No. Impact tools can gall, strip or crack titanium threads. Use hand tools and a calibrated torque wrench, with copper- or nickel-based anti-seize on the threads.
Are titanium lug nuts strong enough?
Yes. Grade 5 titanium is rated at 138,000 psi tensile — comparable to high-grade steel at about half the weight.
