A true power pulley for the air-cooled VW Type 1. King Performance's True Power Pulley is a 5.25" billet crank pulley. King sizes it to pair with a 4.300" alternator pulley, aiming for a slight horsepower gain by reducing the load the alternator and cooling fan take from the crank.
This listing is the 5.25" solid crank pulley with stock hub. The spoked design, the sand-seal hub and the full kit with King's 4.300" alternator pulley are available by special order — contact us for a price.

Important: Cooling
A smaller crank pulley turns the cooling fan slower. King notes that fan speed may be affected. Power pulleys suit race, drag and off-road engines; on a street car that idles in traffic or tows, watch oil temperature and consider a standard-size pulley.

Installation Notes
King recommends LAT red high-strength thread lock on the crank pulley bolt and 80 ft-lb of torque. If you also change the alternator pulley, shim it for belt alignment and tension. Keep your charge light working: the belt drives the cooling fan.
