• EMPI 00-9923-0 — Oil screen kit for 1200cc 40HP (1961–1965): strainer screen, strainer plate gasket, drain plug gaskets, and sealing washers
• 3x Valvoline VR1 SAE 30 — 1 quart each (3 quarts total) — High-zinc, flat-tappet-safe conventional racing oil

Why VR1 SAE 30?

Air-cooled VW engines are pushrod, flat-tappet designs that demand elevated ZDDP (zinc/phosphorus) levels for proper cam and lifter protection. VR1 SAE 30 delivers 2X more zinc than standard motor oils — exactly what these classic engines need. SAE 30 is the factory-correct viscosity for the 40HP 1200cc engine.

Engine Oil Capacity: ~2.5 quarts (3 quarts included for a complete drain-and-fill with a small reserve)
