Why It Matters
Original Carrera 3.2 heat exchangers are mild steel. After decades they rust through, leak exhaust into the heater air (a real carbon monoxide risk in the cabin), and choke flow. Factory replacements are expensive, and most aftermarket heat exchangers sacrifice heat for power. SSI heat exchangers are the well-known stainless upgrade that keeps a working heater while freeing up flow from the larger Ø41 mm tubes. With the Dansk dual-inlet sport muffler you get a stronger flat-six sound and a single Ø70 mm tailpipe that suits the classic G-body look. It is a one-time fix that should outlast the car. For the factory-style single-outlet version see our Dansk 92.299S set (JP-2641-0).
Installation Notes
- Soak exhaust studs with penetrating oil for a few days before removal; broken studs in the heads are common on 3.2s.
- Use new exhaust port gaskets and new copper or brass flange nuts.
- Hang the heat exchangers loosely, fit the muffler, then tighten from the heads rearwards so nothing is pre-loaded.
- Reconnect heater hoses and check that the heater flaps and cables work through their full range.
- Run the engine and check for leaks, then re-torque after the first heat cycles. Use the factory manual for torque values. Local emissions laws apply — EMPI states parts are legal only on pre-pollution-controlled vehicles.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit my 1986 Carrera 3.2?
Yes, EMPI lists 1984–1989 911 3.2 without catalytic converter and with heater.
My US car has a catalytic converter. Will it work?
EMPI lists this set for cars without a catalytic converter. Check your local emissions rules and ask us before ordering.
Do I keep cabin heat?
Yes. The set uses SSI heat exchangers, and EMPI lists it for cars with heater.

No. It is the Dansk reference. The JP Group ref is 1620802610.
What is the difference from JP-2641-0?
JP-2641-0 (92.299S) is the OEM-style single-outlet set. This JP-9904-0 is the sport set with a dual-inlet muffler and Ø70 mm tailpipe.
What else do I need?
Exhaust gaskets, flange nuts and, often, new exhaust studs.
Is it new?
Yes, new Dansk / SSI via EMPI. Photos coming soon.
