On a 1955–1967 Beetle, the bumper brackets pass straight through the body, and once the seal around each one cracks, the fender well feeds water and road grit into the body. EMPI 98-1015-0 is a set of four replacement grommets (OE 111 707 199A). There is one for each bracket, so a single set seals both bumpers.

Installation Notes

• Unbolt the bumper and pull the brackets out of the body.
• Clean the old rubber and dirt out of the body opening, and touch up any bare metal before the new grommet goes on.
• Slide the grommet onto the bracket, feed the bracket back through the body and seat the grommet lip all the way around. A little rubber lube or soapy water helps.
