EMPI Super Shroud — Doghouse, With Heater | Semi-Gloss Black (00-8678-0)
Fits doghouse engines — 1971 and later — and keeps your heat. Open your engine lid: if there's a rectangular oil cooler box hanging off the outside of the shroud on the driver's side, you have a doghouse and this is your shroud. If the cooler stands upright inside the shroud, you need the upright version (00-8684-0 with heater, 00-8679-0 without) instead.
Engine cooling isn't just about moving air — it's about moving it to the right places. The EMPI Super Shroud is the result of extensive CAD modeling, 3D scanning, and real-world flow testing. This version has the doghouse oil-cooler tower and heater duct outlets, so your heater boxes still work.
Traditional and aftermarket shrouds are often imbalanced, sending more air to the passenger side (cylinders 1 & 2) while the driver side (cylinders 3 & 4) runs hot. EMPI engineers used Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to redesign the internal fins, correcting that imbalance for consistent temperatures across the whole motor.

- Engine cases: fits both OEM and "bubbletop" cases without modification
A note on the name. These are sold as "36HP style." That describes the early 36-horse shape of the shroud — the look — not the engine it bolts to. EMPI copied the early styling and built it to fit 1300–1600cc Type 1 engines.

- How do I know I have a doghouse? Open the engine lid. A rectangular oil cooler box on the outside of the shroud, driver's side, means doghouse — 1971 and later.
