What's Included
- One complete headlight assembly with chrome ring (left or right).
Not Included
- Bulb, rim-to-body seal or wiring.
Why It Matters
Split Bus headlights take a beating: the reflectors corrode, the glass gets pitted by road stones, and the rims rust and dent. Dim, yellow, scattered light is common on original units. A complete new Hella E-code unit gives a sharp, correct beam pattern and the original European look with the chrome ring. Buying the complete assembly saves hunting for separate reflector, lens and ring parts.
JP Group is a Danish supplier that has specialised in classic Volkswagen and Porsche parts for decades, and EMPI distributes the range in the USA. Their parts are made to match the original design, so they fit without the guesswork that comes with generic replacements.
Installation Notes
- Remove the rim screw and lift off the old rim and light unit. Unplug the bulb holder.
- Clean the bucket and check the earth wire and plug for corrosion.
- Fit the bulb (not included) in the new unit, plug it in and seat the unit in the bucket.
- Fit the rim and screw, then aim the headlights before night driving.
- Replace the rim-to-body seal if it is cracked.
- Follow the factory workshop manual (Bentley or VW) for your model. If in doubt, have a qualified mechanic fit the part.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit my 1965 Split Bus?
Yes. EMPI lists the 1950–1967 Split Window Bus.
Left or right — how do I tell?
Left is the driver side on a US bus. JP-8596-0 is left; JP-8597-0 is right.
Is a bulb included?
No. Order a bulb separately.
Is this the same as VW 211 941 039 / 040?
Yes. EMPI lists those OE numbers for left and right.
What is the E mark?
It is the European approval mark. These are Euro-pattern lamps, not US sealed beams.
Is it new?
Yes, new Hella assembly supplied by JP Group.
