What's Included
- One door seal for one door.
Not Included
- A second seal for the other door (order two for a full car).
- Door window seals, window scrapers, vent window seals or adhesive.
Why It Matters
The door seal is the main barrier between the cabin and the outside on a 911 coupe. After decades of sun and heat the rubber goes hard, flattens and cracks. The signs are easy to spot: wind noise at speed, water on the sills or in the footwell after a wash or rain, a door that rattles over bumps, or a door that suddenly closes too easily. Water that gets past a tired seal also sits on the sills and in the floor pans, which is where 911 rust starts. A fresh seal brings back the solid "thunk" when the door closes and keeps the interior dry.
JP Group is a Danish supplier that has specialised in classic Volkswagen and Porsche parts for decades, and EMPI distributes the range in the USA. We also list a coupe door seal from another brand to OE 911 531 095 03; this listing is the JP Group version, so you can choose the brand you prefer.
Installation Notes
- Pull the old seal out and clean the door opening of old rubber and adhesive. Check the flange for rust.
- Let the new seal warm up in the sun or a warm room so it is soft and easy to work.
- Start at the bottom of the opening and work around, pressing the seal on evenly without stretching it.
- Close the door gently a few times. A new seal is firm at first and settles in over a few weeks; adjust the lock striker only if the door still will not latch after that.
- Follow the factory workshop manual for your model, or have a body shop fit the part.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit my 1978 911 SC coupe?
Yes. EMPI lists the 911 coupe from 1965 through the 964 (to 1994), all engine sizes from 2.0 to 3.6 liter.
Left or right?
Either. The same seal fits the left or right door. Order two for both doors.
Does it fit a Targa or Cabriolet?
No. EMPI notes it is not for Targa or Cabriolet; those use a different seal.
Is this the same as OE 911 531 095 01?
Yes, that is the OE reference EMPI lists. Later Porsche numbers 911 531 095 02 and 03 replace it.
Is it new?
Yes, a new JP Group rubber seal, not a used or reconditioned part.
Does it fit a 912?
Yes, the 1965–1969 912 coupe per EMPI. The 1976 912E uses the same body and is very likely the same, but confirm.
What else do I need?
A clean door opening and rubber-safe weatherstrip adhesive if your car uses it at the corners. Check the door seal retainer and lock striker before fitting.
