What's Included / Not Included
- Included: One press-in front wheel stud.
- Not included: Lug nuts, hub, rotor or wheel bearings.
Why It Matters
Stripped threads, a stud snapped by an over-tightened impact gun, or a stud that spins in the hub all mean a wheel that cannot be held on safely. Late Bus and Vanagon front hubs use press-in studs, so a damaged one can be replaced without buying a whole hub. If one stud is stretched from over-torquing, it is good practice to check the others on that hub too.
Installation Notes
- Support the vehicle safely and remove the wheel, caliper and rotor/hub per the workshop manual.
- Press or drive the old stud out from the back of the hub, supporting the hub flange so it is not distorted.
- Draw the new stud in with a press or a stud installer until its head seats fully against the hub.
- Never use a hammer on the threads.
- Torque the lug nuts to factory specification in a cross pattern and re-check after the first few miles.
- We do not publish torque values here; use the factory workshop manual for your vehicle.
