What's Included
- One fuel filler neck hose, short or long as selected.
Not Included
- Hose clamps (two large clamps per hose)
- Filler neck, fuel cap and filler neck seal
- Vent and breather hoses
Why It Matters
The filler hose sits behind the fuel door and carries every gallon from the pump into the tank. After decades of heat and modern ethanol fuel the rubber hardens, cracks and splits. The usual signs are a strong fuel smell after filling, fuel dripping under the right side of the Bus at the pump, or a wet patch at the tank seam. A leaking filler hose is a serious fire risk because it sits right above the engine compartment area. It is also one of the cheapest fuel system fixes on a Bay Window Bus, and it is often missed during a tank replacement.
Installation Notes
- Run the tank down well below the filler level before you start, and disconnect the battery.
- Access is through the engine compartment and the fuel filler door. Remove the clamps and twist the old hose off.
- Clean both necks. A little soapy water on the necks helps the new hose slide on; do not use oil or grease.
- Fit new clamps and tighten them evenly so they seal without cutting the rubber.
- Fill slowly the first time and check for leaks at both ends.
