What's Included
- One interior light base.
Not Included
- Festoon bulb and glass lens.
- Wiring.
Why It Matters
The dome light base holds the bulb contacts and the switch. On old Split Buses the bases rust, the contacts corrode and the switch stops working, so the light flickers or does nothing. Rewiring cannot fix a rotten base. A new base lets you reuse your original glass lens and get the cabin light working again.
JP Group is a Danish supplier that has specialised in classic Volkswagen and Porsche parts for decades, and EMPI distributes the range in the USA. Their parts are made to match the original design, so they fit without the guesswork that comes with generic replacements.
Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery before working on the light.
- Pry the lens off the old base and remove the base from the headliner or roof panel.
- Connect the wire to the new base, check the ground, and fit it in place.
- Fit a new bulb and your lens. Test the switch and door switch (if fitted).
- Follow the factory workshop manual (Bentley or VW) for your model. If in doubt, have a qualified mechanic fit the part.
