|---|---|---|
| 1992–2003 | VW EuroVan (T4), gas and diesel, bayonet filler neck | Locking cap (EMPI) |
| All | EuroVan with screw-type filler | Does not fit — screw type is 191 201 551 A |

Some EuroVans use a screw-in cap instead of the bayonet (twist-lock) type. Look at your filler neck before ordering: this cap is the bayonet type.

Why It Matters
Fuel caps lose their seal over time, and on 1996-on vans a leaking cap can set an evaporative emissions check engine light. Original locking caps also get lost, or the key goes missing, leaving the tank open or impossible to fill.
A new locking cap seals the tank, stops fuel theft and gives you a working key again. JP Group is a Danish maker of replacement parts for classic and later Volkswagens, sold in the US through EMPI. Washburn's Metal in Orange, CA lists each JP part with its VW OE number and JP reference so you can check it against your old part before you order.
Installation Notes
- Remove the old cap.
- Check the filler neck lip for damage and clean it.
- Insert the key, place the cap on the neck, and turn to lock.
- If your van shows an evap code, clear it after fitting the new cap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does it fit my 1999 EuroVan?
Yes, if it has the bayonet filler neck. EMPI lists 1992–2003 EuroVan.
Are keys included?
It is a key-locking cap, and caps of this type normally come with two keys. EMPI does not list the count.
Is this the same as VW 7D0 201 551?
Yes. EMPI lists JP-3400-0 as OE 7D0 201 551.
Will it fit a screw-type filler?
No. Screw-type necks use 191 201 551 A.
Will it fix my check engine light?
A worn cap can cause an evap leak code; a new sealing cap is the first thing to try.
Is it new?
Yes, new JP Group.
