Why It Matters

The doghouse oil cooler sits off to the side, in the fan shroud's own air path. It needs this adapter to mount it on the case and carry oil to and from the cooler. The mounting surfaces on a used adapter are often gouged, cracked or stripped, which causes oil leaks inside the fan shroud. Oil there gets blown all over the engine.

A new adapter with clean sealing faces is the right base for a new cooler and seals. It is also the part you need to convert an older engine to the more efficient doghouse cooler and shroud.

Installation Notes

  • Fit new oil cooler seals every time, with the correct size for your case's oil ports.
  • Clean the case and adapter faces. Old seals often stick and leave residue.
  • Tighten the nuts evenly and do not over-tighten into the case studs.
  • Make sure the cooler sits square and does not touch the shroud.
  • Run the engine to temperature and check for leaks before refitting the shroud tin.
  • We do not publish torque values here; use the factory workshop manual (Bentley) for your vehicle.
