JP Group Oil Filler Pipe with Cap & Gasket, Black — VW Bus Type 4, Vanagon & Porsche 914 (JP-8130-0)
Short answer: JP-8130-0 is the black oil filler extension pipe with cap and gasket for the air-cooled VW Type 4 engine. EMPI lists it for the 1972–1979 VW Bus (Transporter), the 1972–1975 Porsche 914 2.0 and the early Vanagon. EMPI cross-references it to OE 021 115 311 (JP Group ref 8113601100). Sold each, as a complete pipe, cap and gasket.
Part numbers: JP-8130-0 · OE 021 115 311 (EMPI lists "21115311") · JP Group 8113601100 · UPC 707924524659.
Fitment
| Years | Vehicle | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1972–1979 | VW Bus (Bay Window) with Type 4 engine, 1.7 / 1.8 / 2.0 | Per EMPI |
| 1972–1975 | Porsche 914 2.0 (4-cylinder) | Per EMPI; 1.7 and 1.8 914s also use the Type 4 engine — compare with your old filler |
| 1980–1983 | VW Vanagon air-cooled 2.0 | Fitment to confirm — EMPI's Vanagon line reads "CS 1.6 diesel, 1980–1984", which looks like a data error, as the diesel is water-cooled. Compare with your old part. |
| 1950–1979 | VW Beetle, Ghia and Bus with Type 1 upright engine | Does not fit — Type 1 engines use the 111 115 485 cap (JP-8129-0) |
| 1970–1976 | Porsche 914/6 | Does not fit — the six-cylinder uses a dry-sump oil tank |

Why It Matters
On the Type 4 engine, the filler pipe brings the oil fill point up to where you can reach it through the engine hatch. Original pipes rust, crack at the base and lose the cap, and the old gasket hardens and seeps. Because the Type 4 crankcase is vented, a leaking pipe or a cap that does not seal can draw unmetered air on fuel-injected engines, which leads to a rough idle and lean running, as well as oil mist in the engine bay. A missing cap is also an easy way for dirt to get into the engine. Replacing the full pipe, cap and gasket solves leaks and makes oil checks clean and simple.
Installation Notes
- Work on a cool engine. Remove the old pipe and clean the mating face on the engine carefully, without letting dirt fall in.
- Fit the new gasket dry or with a light film of oil, and tighten the fasteners evenly to the factory specification in the Bentley manual.
- Reconnect any breather hoses and check that the clamps are tight.
- Run the engine and check for oil seepage around the base after it reaches temperature.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit my 1976 Bus?
Yes. All 1975–1979 Buses use the Type 4 engine, and EMPI lists JP-8130-0 for 1972–1979.
Does it fit my 1973 Bus?
Only if it has the 1.7 Type 4 engine. 1972–1973 Buses with the 1600 upright engine use the Type 1 cap JP-8129-0.
Does it fit my Porsche 914?
EMPI lists the 1972–1975 914 2.0. The 1.7 and 1.8 914 use the same Type 4 family; compare with your old filler.
Is this the same as OE 021 115 311?
EMPI cross-references it to 021 115 311.
Does it fit my 1981 Vanagon?
Probably, on the air-cooled 2.0, but EMPI's Vanagon fitment looks wrong, so compare with your old filler first.
Is the cap included?
Yes. The pipe comes with its cap and gasket.
Is it new?
Yes. New, supplied by JP Group of Denmark through EMPI.
