What's Included

Not Included

- Rear bumper bracket (iron), bolts or seals
- Weld-through primer or seam sealer
Why It Matters
The rear bumper brackets on a Beetle pass through the body just in front of the rear wheelhouse. Water, salt and road dirt pack into this pocket, and the panel rots around the bracket hole. Once it goes, the bumper sags or moves and the rot spreads into the wheelhouse and the rear quarter.
A sagging rear bumper is the most common sign. This section gives you the formed bracket area and the surrounding wheelhouse metal in one piece, so the bumper sits at the right height after the repair.
Installation Notes
- This is a weld-in panel. Fitting it is body-shop work.
- Fit the bumper bracket loosely before you weld so the panel goes in at the right position and angle.
- Remove the transit primer at the weld areas and use weld-through primer on the seams.
- Seal all seams and treat the inside of the wheelhouse with cavity wax or undercoat.
- Check the rear quarter and the heater channel nearby. They often rot at the same time.
- We do not publish torque values here; use the factory workshop manual (Bentley) for your vehicle.
