What's Included / Not Included
- Included: one running board molding strip.
- Not included: molding clips or the running board itself. Order two moldings for both sides.
Why It Matters
The bright molding along the outer edge of the running board is the finishing touch on the side of a Beetle. Originals get dented by feet and curbs, corrode where the clips sit and fade to a dull gray. A bent or missing strip also lets the rubber tread edge peel away.
A new polished strip makes even used running boards look much better and is a cheap way to sharpen a car's side profile. Molding width tells you the year: 1973–1979 cars use the narrow 9–10 mm strip.
This is a German OE-quality aluminum part, not the thin chrome-look plastic sold by some suppliers.
Installation Notes
- Pry off the old molding carefully; note how it hooks into the clips.
- Replace broken or rusted clips — a car set of 1973–1979 molding clips is cheap.
- Start at one end and press the molding onto the clips progressively. Use a soft mallet or the heel of your hand, never a steel hammer.
- Trim the ends only if needed, and file any cut edge smooth.
