Why It Matters
Worn shock bushings make the front end knock over bumps and let the shock move in its mount, so it does not damp as it should. Old rubber also cracks and falls out.
Replace the bushings any time you fit new shocks, unless the shocks come with them.
JP Group is a Danish maker of replacement parts for classic Volkswagens and Porsches. Its parts are sold under the JP Group, Dansk and Classic names, and EMPI is its US distributor. Washburn's Metal in Orange, California lists each JP part with its VW or Porsche OE number and its JP Group reference, so you can check it against your old part, your parts book or the stamp on the original before you order. If you are not sure whether this part fits your car, send us your year, model, chassis number and engine code and we will check it for you before it ships.
Installation Notes
- Support the car safely and remove the shock bolt.
- Press out the old bushing and clean the eye.
- A little rubber lube helps the new bushing go in.
- Tighten the bolt with the car at ride height so the rubber is not pre-loaded.
Use the torque values and procedures in a factory or Bentley service manual for your car.
