What's Included / Not Included
- Included: two moldings, one left and one right.
- Not included: trim clips or seals; reuse or replace the clips from your car.
Why It Matters
The curved-windshield Super Beetle and the late Super Beetle Convertible carry a short aluminum trim strip on each side of the front quarter (cowl) panel, just below the back corner of the hood. It finishes the body line between the hood and the door. Originals get dented, scratched and pitted, and they are easily bent when removed for paintwork.
A matched new pair is the quickest way to make a freshly painted Super Beetle look finished. Mismatched or missing cowl trims are one of the details judges and buyers notice on a restored 1303. This set replaces both sides at once so the finish matches.
Super Beetle trim is not the same as standard Beetle trim. Confirm that your car is a 1973 or later Super Beetle with the curved windshield before you order.
Installation Notes
- Remove the old molding carefully with a plastic trim tool so you do not damage the paint.
- Inspect the clip holes for rust; treat any rust before fitting the new molding.
- Fit new trim clips where the old ones are broken. Clips with sealer help keep water out of the panel.
- Press the molding onto the clips evenly from one end. Do not hammer it — aluminum dents easily.
- Test-fit before final paint so you can adjust any clip holes.
