JP Group Sliding Door Contact Plate (Central Locking) — VW EuroVan 1992–2003 (JP-3206-0)
Short answer: JP Group JP-3206-0 is the electrical contact plate at the sliding door of the VW EuroVan (T4), 1992–2003. It passes the central locking (and, on some vans, other door circuits) from the body to the sliding door when the door is closed. It replaces VW OE 701 959 377 (JP Group 1196501302) and is sold each.
Part numbers: JP-3206-0 · OE 701 959 377 · JP Group 1196501302 · UPC 707924557350.

What's Included
- One sliding door contact plate.
Not Included
- The mating contact on the opposite side (door or body)
- Central locking actuator or lock
- Screws and wiring connectors
Why It Matters
The EuroVan sliding door has no wiring harness that runs across the gap. Instead, spring contacts on the door touch a contact plate on the body when the door is shut. Over time the contacts corrode, the plastic cracks or the springs lose tension. The usual symptom is a sliding door that will not lock or unlock with the rest of the van, or that works only when you push on the door. Some vans also lose the door-ajar signal, the alarm or the dome light. Replacing the contact plate is a quick fix for a problem that is often blamed on the lock actuator first.
Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery before you work on the contact.
- Remove the screws holding the old plate, unplug the connector and note the wire positions.
- Clean the mating contacts on the door with contact cleaner and a fine abrasive pad.
- Fit the new plate, reconnect the wiring and check that the central locking operates the sliding door with the door fully closed.
- A thin film of dielectric grease on the contacts helps prevent new corrosion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit my 1997 EuroVan Camper?
