JP Group Sunroof Crank Handle Finger Plate, White | VW Beetle 1964–1977 & Bus 1968–1979 | OE 117 877 433 (JP-8508-0)
Short answer: JP Group JP-8508-0 is the white plastic finger plate (escutcheon) that sits behind the steel sunroof crank handle in the headliner, giving your fingers room to fold the handle out. EMPI lists the 1964–1977 VW Beetle and 1968–1979 Bus (Transporter) with steel sliding sunroof. It replaces OE 117 877 433, JP Group reference 8185450400.

Why It Matters
The finger plate is a small part, but it is the first thing anyone sees when they look up at a steel sunroof Beetle or Bus. Original plates go yellow, crack around the screw hole and are often lost when a headliner is replaced. A new white plate makes a freshly installed headliner look finished and keeps the crank handle from rubbing a hole in the fabric.
JP Group is a Danish maker of replacement parts for classic Volkswagens and Porsches, sold under the JP Group, Dansk and Classic names, with EMPI as its US distributor. Washburn's Metal in Orange, California lists each JP part with its VW OE number and JP Group reference so you can check it against your parts book before you order.
Installation Notes
- Fold the crank handle in and remove the handle screw.
- Lift off the handle and the old finger plate.
- Fit the new plate over the headliner, then refit the handle and screw. Do not overtighten; the plastic can crack.
- Check the handle folds and turns the sunroof drive smoothly.
