Why It Matters
When the rubber stop is gone, the trailing arm hits metal to metal over big bumps. That is loud, it can damage the arm or the beam, and it makes the van feel harsh. Lowered Buses wear these stops out quickly.
A new stop is cheap and brings back a quiet front end.
JP Group is a Danish maker of replacement parts for classic Volkswagens and Porsches. Its parts are sold under the JP Group, Dansk and Classic names, and EMPI is its US distributor. Washburn's Metal in Orange, California lists each JP part with its VW or Porsche OE number and its JP Group reference, so you can check it against your old part, your parts book or the stamp on the original before you order. If you are not sure whether this part fits your car, send us your year, model, chassis number and engine code and we will check it for you before it ships.
Installation Notes
- Support the van safely and take the weight off the front.
- Remove the old rubber and clean the seat.
- Fit the new stop firmly.
- Check that the arm meets the stop squarely at full bump.
Use the torque values and procedures in a factory or Bentley service manual for your car.
