JP Group Westfalia Pop-Top Roof Sealing Frame — VW EuroVan Camper 1995–2003 (JP-3198-0)
Short answer: JP Group JP-3198-0 is the sealing frame for the Westfalia pop-top (elevating) roof on the VW EuroVan Camper (T4), 1995–2003 in the US. It seals the lifting roof against the body opening so rain and dust stay out when the roof is down. It replaces VW/Westfalia OE 255 070 926 M (JP Group 1185800300) and is sold each.
Part numbers: JP-3198-0 · OE 255 070 926 M · JP Group 1185800300 · UPC 707924557244.

Why It Matters
On a EuroVan Camper the pop-top roof is one of the biggest seams on the vehicle. When the sealing frame shrinks, hardens or splits, water gets in at the front and rear corners of the roof opening. Owners notice wet headliners, damp bedding in the upper bunk, water stains down the B-pillars, and in bad cases water reaching the cabinets and wiring below. The seal also stops wind noise and dust at highway speed. Original Westfalia roof seals for the EuroVan are increasingly hard to find in the US, and a good seal protects the expensive camper interior.
Installation Notes
- Raise the roof partway and support it safely before working at the seal.
- Remove the old seal and clean the flange down to bare, dry paint. Remove old adhesive and treat any rust before fitting the new seal.
- Start at the rear center and work the new frame around the opening without stretching it. Stretched seal shrinks back and opens gaps at the corners.
- Lower the roof and check that it latches with even compression all round. Test with a hose before a trip.
- Rubber seals fit more easily when warm. Leave the seal in the sun or a warm room before installation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this fit my 2001 EuroVan Camper?
Yes. EMPI lists JP-3198-0 for 1995–2003 EuroVan Campers with the Westfalia pop-top.
Does it fit a Vanagon Westfalia?
No. The Vanagon pop-top uses a different seal, 253 070 708 (JP-1354-0).
Is this the same as OE 255 070 926 M?
Yes. EMPI and JP Group cross-reference JP-3198-0 to 255 070 926 M.
Does it fit a Winnebago Rialta or a non-Westfalia EuroVan?
No. It is for the Westfalia roof only.
Is it new?
Yes, a new JP Group part.
What else should I check?
Look at the canvas, the roof struts and the latches while you are working on the seal. A torn canvas will leak even with a new seal.
