What's Included
- One left window regulator.
Not Included
- Window lift channel, glass, crank handle or screws.
Why It Matters
The regulator is a crank-driven gear and arm that lifts the door glass. On a 1965–67 Beetle the gear teeth wear, the arm bends and the spring weakens. Symptoms are a crank that spins without moving the glass, a window that drops by itself, clicking or grinding as you wind, or glass that tilts in the frame. A new regulator gives back smooth winding and holds the glass up.
JP Group is a Danish supplier that has specialised in classic Volkswagen and Porsche parts for decades, and EMPI distributes the range in the USA. Their parts are made to match the original design, so they fit without the guesswork that comes with generic replacements.
Installation Notes
- Remove the crank handle, door handle escutcheon and door panel.
- Lower the glass and remove the screws that hold the regulator to the door and the arm to the lift channel.
- Lift the regulator out through the opening in the inner door.
- Grease the new regulator gears and slides with white lithium grease before fitting.
- Fit it, attach the lift channel, and test the window before you refit the panel.
- Follow the factory workshop manual (Bentley or VW) for your model. If in doubt, have a qualified mechanic fit the part.
