Why It Matters
The column wiper switch on a Bay Window Bus is 45-plus years old. The internal contacts wear and corrode, and the plastic stalk cracks. Symptoms are wipers that only run on one speed, wipers that will not park or stop, a washer that does nothing, or a stalk that is loose or broken off.
Good wipers are a safety item, and many states check them at inspection. A worn switch can also overheat the wiring at the plug. A new JP Group switch is a direct plug-in fix when the motor and wiring test good.
Installation Notes
- Disconnect the battery before working on the column.
- Remove the steering wheel and the column switch cover to reach the switch screws.
- Compare the plug and wire colors with your old switch before fitting. The plugs changed during production.
- Test the wipers on every speed and the washer before refitting the wheel.
- If the wipers still misbehave, check the wiper motor ground and the park circuit.
- We do not publish torque values here; use the factory workshop manual (Bentley) for your vehicle.
