King Performance Titanium Engine Tin Bolts — M6 x 1.0 x 13mm, Pack of 20, Raw or Black PVD
Engine tin hardware lives in the hottest, dirtiest part of an air-cooled VW, and stock screws show it: rusted heads, stripped Phillips slots and a mix of whatever came out of the coffee can. King Performance titanium engine tin bolts fix all of that in one pack. Each is forged from Grade 5 titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) with an integral 13mm flange and a clever dual-drive head — turn it with an 8mm 12-point socket or a 3mm Allen key, whichever fits the spot you are working in.
Vehicle Fitment
- Air-cooled VW engine tin secured with M6 x 1.0 machine screws — Type 1 engines in the Beetle, Karmann Ghia, early Bus, Thing, Baja Bugs and VW-powered dune buggies.
- Some tin locations use sheet-metal screws or longer hardware. Check the thread (M6 x 1.0) and the 13mm under-head length against the screw you are replacing.
Key Features & Benefits
- Dual-drive head: 8mm 12-point socket or 3mm Allen — reach the awkward screws behind the pulley, under the cylinder tins and around the fan shroud.
- Grade 5 titanium: light, strong and completely rust-proof in the heat and grime of the engine bay.
- 13mm integral flange: clamps thin sheet metal without loose washers to drop into the engine.
- Hot-forged, rolled threads for durability through repeated tin removal.
- Two finishes: raw titanium or black PVD to match the rest of your King hardware.

Installation Notes
- Use anti-seize on all titanium threads — King's instruction for every titanium fastener. It prevents galling and makes the next teardown easy.
- Start each bolt by hand; tin threads in the heads and case are easy to cross-thread.
- Snug the tin — do not overtighten into thin sheet metal or soft aluminum and magnesium threads.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How many bolts come in a pack? Twenty.
- What tools do they take? An 8mm 12-point socket or a 3mm Allen key.
- What thread and length are they? M6 x 1.0, 13mm long.
- Raw or black PVD — what is the difference? Same bolt; black PVD adds a hard black vacuum-deposited coating, raw is natural titanium.
- Will they rust? No — titanium does not rust, which is the main reason to use it on engine tin.
- Do I need washers? No, the 13mm flange spreads the load on the tin.
