Why It Matters
PMO top covers are held down by small M5 studs. They get bent when the air cleaner is removed, the threads strip from over-tightening, or one goes missing during a rebuild. A cover that is not clamped evenly can leak fuel vapour and let the gasket shift.

Installation Notes
- Thread the stud in by hand, then snug it with two nuts locked together; do not over-tighten into the aluminum body.
- Use a new top cover gasket if the old one is torn or hard.
- Work on a cold engine with the fuel pump off and a fire extinguisher close by.
- Clean the area around the part before opening the carburetor so dirt cannot fall into the float bowl or throats.
- After any work, check the throttle opens fully and closes with no sticking, and check for fuel leaks before starting.
