Crankcase venting sized for a built engine. Once a Type 1 engine makes real power, blow-by overwhelms the stock breather and oil ends up in the air cleaners or on the engine. Vintage Speed's High Flow Air Breather System gives the crankcase a 1.1-liter stainless steel breather tank with five ports, so both valve covers and the case can vent into one place and the separated air can return to the carburetors. This is the black-finished version for Beetles built from August 1, 1957.

Fitment

  • VW Beetle from chassis number 1-600-440 (August 1, 1957) onward
  • Mounts with a special bolt-on bracket at the engine lid hinge, below the rain gutter: no drilling, and the engine lid spring still works
  • Bus, Karmann Ghia and Type 3: the tank can be installed in the engine compartment, but the supplied bracket does not fit those bodies
  • For earlier (pre-August 1957) Beetles, Vintage Speed makes a separate version
  • Off-highway use only

Features

  • 1.1 L capacity, suited to engines up to 165 bhp
  • Five welded-on M16 x 1.5 connectors: 2 valve-cover inlets, 1 engine-case inlet, 2 outlets to the carburetors
  • 304 stainless steel with black finish
  • Bolt-on bracket included
  • Vintage Speed warranty: five years on 304 stainless steel parts
