- Diameter: 15 in on every wheel in this listing.
- Offset: EMPI publishes backspacing, not ET, for these wheels. Backspacing is the figure to use when checking clearance.
- Center bore: not published by EMPI for this family; we are confirming it with EMPI.
- 15x6 rears: EMPI's 15x6 (10-1102-0 chrome, 10-1103-0 polished) is a "different spoke design" casting, so its spokes are not identical to the 15x4.5 fronts. That is why those options are labelled "alt-spoke rears".
- Optional: 20 M14x1.5 ball-seat zinc lug nuts (KIT20-70-2860-0), + $49.95, or the 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit (KIT-4L-5X130), + $285.95, in the Mounting Hardware option.
- Typical tire sizes (common choices, not an EMPI spec): 165/80R15 or 165R15 on 15x4.5; 185/65R15 or 195/65R15 on 15x5.5 and 15x6.
What's included / not included
- Included: four EMPI wheels in the sizes of the set you choose. Per EMPI, chrome and polished wheels each come with a chrome logo center cap and chrome valve stem; gloss black/polished wheels come with a silver logo cap and chrome valve stem. Lug nuts or the 4-lug conversion kit are included only if you choose them in the Mounting Hardware option.
- Not included: wide-five (5x205) adapters, tires, mounting and balancing, wheel locks.
Add mounting hardware
These wheels take M14x1.5 ball-seat (radius) hardware, 20 pieces for a set. Do not use 60° conical (tapered) nuts on these wheels. Pick what your car needs in the Mounting Hardware option above and it ships with your wheels:
| Mounting Hardware option | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| No Hardware | Wheels only, for when you already have the correct ball-seat nuts or conversion parts | + $0 |
| Ball Seat Lug Nuts, Zinc, Set of 20 (KIT20-70-2860-0) | For a 5x130 Porsche 911/912/914-6 or a VW already converted to 5x130 studs: 20 EMPI Porsche-style M14x1.5 ball-seat zinc nuts (4 × EMPI 70-2860-0). See the kit (chrome, black and raw alloy versions are sold there too) | + $49.95 |
| 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit (KIT-4L-5X130) | For a 4x130 car (1968–1979 Beetle or Super Beetle, 1967–1974 Ghia, 1966–1973 Type 3): 2 pairs of EMPI 00-9500-0 aluminum 4x130-to-5x130 adapters, the hub bolts to mount them, and 20 ball-seat nuts for the wheels. See the kit | + $285.95 |
Wide-five (5x205) VWs need EMPI 00-9499-0 5x205-to-5x130 adapters (two pairs) plus M14x1.5 ball-seat nuts; ask us and we will quote them. For theft protection, EMPI 70-2708-0 14mm ball-seat locks for 911 alloys are sold in our lug hardware listing.
Why the set and the stagger matter
The narrow 15x4.5 up front keeps steering light and stays inside a stock Beetle or 911 fender, while a wider rear puts a fatter tire under the back of the car for the classic early-911 stance. Square sets are the simpler choice if you rotate tires front to back. The lug seat is the detail that gets missed most often: these wheels take ball-seat (radius) nuts, the same seat type as Porsche hardware, and conical nuts will not seat correctly.
Install notes
- Test-fit one bare wheel on each corner. Check that it sits flat on the hub or adapter and clears the caliper, drum, suspension and fender at full lock and full bump.
- Adapters move the wheel outward by their thickness (about 26 mm with the EMPI adapters listed above); check fender clearance on a VW.
- Torque lug nuts to your vehicle's factory specification and re-check after the first 50 miles.
Frequently Asked Questions
What bolt pattern are these 911-style wheels?
5x130, the Porsche 911 and 912 pattern. They bolt straight onto a 5x130 Porsche; a VW needs a 5x130 conversion or adapters.
Will a set of Fuchs-style wheels fit my 4-lug VW Beetle?
Yes, with adapters. A 1968–1979 Beetle or Super Beetle, 1967–1974 Ghia or 1966–1973 Type 3 has 4x130 hubs, so it needs 4x130-to-5x130 adapters such as EMPI 00-9500-0 (two pairs for four wheels) plus M14x1.5 ball-seat nuts. Choose the 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit in the Mounting Hardware option to get all of it with the wheels.
Should I buy a staggered or square set?
Staggered (two 15x4.5 fronts, two 15x5.5 or 15x6 rears) gives the classic early-911 look and a wider rear tire. A square set lets you rotate tires front to back. Both are offered in this listing.
What lug nuts do these wheels take?
M14x1.5 ball-seat (radius) nuts, 20 for a set of four, such as EMPI 70-2860-0 or 70-2883-0 in sets of five. Lug hardware is not included unless you choose it in the Mounting Hardware option.
Do these wheels come with lug nuts?
Not by default — choose "Ball Seat Lug Nuts, Zinc, Set of 20 (KIT20-70-2860-0)" (+$49.95) for a 5x130 Porsche or converted VW, or "4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit (KIT-4L-5X130)" (+$285.95) for a 4-lug Beetle, Ghia or Type 3, in the Mounting Hardware option.
Do the wheels come with center caps and valve stems?
Yes. Per EMPI, each wheel ships with a logo center cap (chrome on chrome and polished wheels, silver on gloss black wheels) and a chrome valve stem.
Are these genuine Fuchs wheels?
No. They are EMPI 911-style cast alloy wheels with the five-petal Fuchs look, sold at a fraction of the price of genuine forged Fuchs.
