Fitment

Universal to M14 x 1.5 wheel studs with 60° conical-seat wheels. The EMPI price file gives no vehicle fitment for this part. Stock air-cooled VWs use lug bolts, so these nuts only fit once the car has studs.

Installation Notes

• Check the seat first. Hold a nut in a lug hole, and the wheel needs a matching 60° taper. Wrong-seat nuts will loosen.
• Start every nut by hand, then snug them in a star pattern with the wheel off the ground.
• Torque to the wheel maker's spec on the ground, again in a star pattern, and re-check after the first 50 miles.
• Make sure the stud reaches at least as many threads as its diameter (14 mm) of engagement. If it does not, the stud is too short for this wheel.

• Will these fit my stock 1970 VW Beetle? Not on their own. A stock Beetle uses lug BOLTS that thread into the drum. These are NUTS for M14 x 1.5 wheel studs, so they fit after a stud conversion (for example EMPI 00-9517-0 studs) with wheels that have a 60° conical seat.
• What seat do they have? A 60° conical (acorn/taper) seat, the kind used on most aftermarket steel and alloy wheels. They are not for VW ball-seat (radius) wheels or flat mag-seat wheels.
