EMPI Torque Star II Wheel Set of 4 — 15x4.5 & 15x6, Bronze Mag, 5x130
Short answer: Four EMPI Torque Star II cast aluminum wheels in bronze mag with a machined lip, 5x130 Porsche bolt pattern. The staggered set pairs two 15x4.5 fronts (+40 mm, 4.25 in backspacing) with two 15x6 rears (+36 mm, 4.75 in); square 15x4.5 and 15x6 sets are also offered. EMPI lists them for the 1965–1969 Porsche 912 and for VW Beetle, Bus, Ghia or Thing converted to 5x130. Caps and valve stems are included; ball-seat lug nuts or a complete 4-lug conversion kit can be added in the Mounting Hardware option.

Fitment (EMPI application data)
| Years | Vehicle | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1965–1969 | Porsche 912 | 5x130. Bolt-on. |
| 1949–1979 | VW Beetle (Type 1) | With 5x130 adapters or 5x130 drums/rotors only. 1968–1979 4-lug cars can use the 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit in the Mounting Hardware option. |
| 1950–1979 | VW Bus (Type 2) | With a 5x130 conversion only. A 15x4.5 front is not a sensible choice on a Bus; consider the square 15x6 set. |
| 1956–1974 | VW Karmann Ghia | With 5x130 adapters or 5x130 drums/rotors only. 1967–1974 Ghias are 4x130 and can use the 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit. |
| 1973–1974 | VW Thing | With 5x130 adapters or 5x130 drums/rotors only. |
| Does not fit | Any stock 4-lug (4x130) or wide-five (5x205) VW, or a stock 1971–1979 Bay Bus (5x112) | Bolt pattern does not match without a conversion. |
| Not listed by EMPI | Porsche 911, 912E, 914-6, 356 | EMPI names only the 912 among Porsches; the 356A/B are 5x205. |

What's included / not included
- Included: four wheels in the sizes of the set you choose, each with a valve stem and a chrome-finish EMPI center cap. Lug nuts or the 4-lug conversion kit are included only if you choose them in the Mounting Hardware option.

Add mounting hardware
These wheels take M14x1.5 ball-seat (radius) nuts, 20 for a set. Conical nuts are the wrong seat. Pick what your car needs in the Mounting Hardware option above and it ships with your wheels:
| Mounting Hardware option | What it is | Price |
|---|---|---|
| No Hardware | Wheels only, for when you already have the correct ball-seat nuts or conversion parts | + $0 |
| Ball Seat Lug Nuts, Zinc, Set of 20 (KIT20-70-2860-0) | For a 912 or other 5x130 hub, or a VW already converted to 5x130 studs: 20 EMPI Porsche-style M14x1.5 ball-seat zinc nuts (4 × EMPI 70-2860-0). See the kit (chrome, black and raw alloy versions are sold there too) | + $49.95 |
| 4-Lug to 5x130 Conversion Kit (KIT-4L-5X130) | For a 4x130 car (1968–1979 Beetle or Super Beetle, 1967–1974 Ghia, 1966–1973 Type 3): 2 pairs of EMPI 00-9500-0 aluminum 4x130-to-5x130 adapters, the hub bolts to mount them, and 20 ball-seat nuts for the wheels. See the kit | + $285.95 |
Wide-five (5x205) VWs need EMPI 00-9499-0 adapters (two pairs) plus M14x1.5 ball-seat nuts; ask us and we will quote them. For theft protection, EMPI 70-2708-0 14mm ball-seat locks are sold in our lug hardware listing.
Why staggered
The Torque Star II takes its look from 1960s American five-spoke mags. Running the 15x4.5 up front with a 145/80R15 keeps steering light and the front tucked in, while the 15x6 rear with a 185/65R15 fills the rear arch. EMPI's offsets push the spokes outward on both sizes for a deeper-looking face.
Install notes
- Test-fit each bare wheel and check caliper, drum and fender clearance, especially on a VW running adapters, which move the wheel outward.
- Torque lug nuts to the vehicle's factory specification and re-check after the first 50 miles.
