Early 40hp heater boxes are a different part from the 1300–1600 boxes most suppliers stock, and good ones are getting hard to find. JP Group of Denmark makes these as a direct replacement for the originals on the 40hp 1200 engine, so a period-correct early Beetle or Ghia can have working heat and defrost again, and no exhaust fumes in the cabin.

Installation Notes
- Use new exhaust port and muffler gaskets; soak the old nuts in penetrating oil well ahead of time.
- Check the heater flaps and cables move freely before refitting the tin, and replace torn heater hoses while you're in there.
