Why It Matters
The original paper hoses inside the dash crumble with age. Then the heater air never reaches the windshield and the glass fogs up. Rodents and water leaks also destroy them.
A new hose is cheap and restores defrosting. Paper is correct for an original-looking car and does not rattle like some metal ducts.
JP Group is a Danish maker of replacement parts for classic Volkswagens and Porsches. Its parts are sold under the JP Group, Dansk and Classic names, and EMPI is its US distributor. Washburn's Metal in Orange, California lists each JP part with its VW or Porsche OE number and its JP Group reference, so you can check it against your old part, your parts book or the stamp on the original before you order. If you are not sure whether this part fits your car, send us your year, model, chassis number and engine code and we will check it for you before it ships.
Installation Notes
- Reach in behind the dash from below or through the speaker opening.
- Cut to length if needed and push the ends over the outlet and vent.
- Secure with tape or a clip so it cannot drop off.
- Check airflow at the windshield with the heat on.
Use the torque values and procedures in a factory or Bentley service manual for your car.
